SPECIAL RULES!

We've done something like this a while back (Challenge #48 on LJ), and I thought it was fun enough to try again. I hope the pictures inspire you!

You may enter up to seven icons.

BUT

You cannot use anything else! No resources! By which I mean, no textures, no brushes, no filters etc UNLESS they are part of your graphics program defaults. If you want to use a fancy brush or custom shape, you have to make it yourself. If you want to add any kind of texture to your icon, you must make it from one (or more) of these five source pictures. Everything in your finished icon should be derived from one (or more) of these pictures. (Plainly, though, you can use whatever your program provides, eg Blend Modes, masking, adjustments etc.)

One exception: if you want to use a non-default font on your icon(s), go ahead.

I think there's plenty of scope in the pics, both for making icons and for creating interesting textures, so I hope you will have fun with this!

And, of course, please keep a note of what you did to create any textures you make from these pictures as well as your icon-making notes. I'm hoping there will be lots of interesting stuff to pick for my Mod's Invitation(s).


Comment to this post with your icon(s) and their url(s), in the usual way. (Not sure what that is? Just ask me.) Please don't use these icons before the voting is completed. All submissions should, of course, fit the 100 x 100, 40K guidelines for LJ icons. No animations.

Remember, if you're the winner you will be required to post a tutorial, so make sure you remember what you did! You will also be required to vote if you enter.

Entries must be in by midnight-your-time on Saturday 13th February. Voting will be posted on Sunday 14th.
