Right, voting is now closed, and I'll be putting the results up later on today.

Meanwhile, any comments about this challenge? For myself, I found it a lot harder to icon than I'd expected, since it is a rather fabulous picture. If you participated, what did you enjoy, and what did you find difficult? Other thoughts?

I found it a lot harder to icon than I expected. The image was gorgeous, but the lighting and shadows in it made my first few attempts wash out really quickly. I also had trouble finding a crop I liked that didn't just look like I cropped it and did nothing else with it.

On the other hand, once I let go of any concept of doing it straight and normal, I was really pleased with the icons I ended up with. It kind of forced me to think outside the box and go in some strange directions, and I got to play with color in new ways because I was trying to force color into a b&w image without it becoming too washed out or brightened. I know I went waaaay away from the side of normal with what I did, but I had fun with it.

I had exactly the same difficulties - it's a lovely pic, but surprisingly awkward to crop successfully, and hard to figure out what to do with.

But I'm glad you found it led you in interesting directions—after all, it's supposed to be a challenge, right?
