Congratulations to this week's winners:
First place:
stripped
Runner up:
pensnest

So,
stripped, it is now your duty to write up a tutorial for your winning icon by midnight on Saturday 20th August. Please title your post Winner's Tutorial, Challenge #114, by (yourname), tag it with 'tutorial' and '111-120', and 'ps', 'psp', 'gimp' or 'pse' as appropriate. Don't forget to state which graphics program you use, and to give credits for any resources used. Do give plenty of detail about how and why you did what you did.
Challenge #115 is a bit lacking in entries at the moment, so I think it will stay open for another week, to give you all time to find some bicycle images and get your imaginations in gear.

Date: 2011-08-12 06:46 pm (UTC)I would love to know, sometime, btw, how you got the blacks on yours so nice and dark without either overshadowing the rest of the image or washing anything out. I was having serious contrast problems when I was making icons.

Date: 2011-08-13 01:21 pm (UTC)Though in that icon I did use the Shapes, er, function(?), I have in the past made a heart-shaped brush to use instead. It's a lot easier to use a brush, although the Shapes heart can be taller and thinner or shorter and fatter, according to how you place it. I've also acquired a bunch of heart brushes, probably from the Photoshop magazine I used to get - one set is from Gorjuss, so you could try an online search for them and brushes, if you don't have any.
