Okay, everyone, as you've probably realised, time's up on this challenge comunity. It's had its day, so I'm not going to struggle on begging for entries, etc.
Thank you, everyone who participated, whether as contestant or voter. I hope you enjoyed it and that you learned something, too.
Have fun!
ETA: if you really don't want to see this comm disappear, tell me. There may also be useful discussion in the LJ community, here.

Date: 2011-02-12 11:02 am (UTC)However, I totally understand why you're not wanting to do this any more. I wonder if it could work with a change to the rules? I'm not quite sure what, off-hand, though maybe others could suggest something.
[edit: I actually had some good ideas on #112, but didn't want to try doing anything during the actual time because it seemed like a steep jump. But there was also nowhere to do it after #112, since everybody was onto #113 and such. (Well, obviously not everyone, but still, that's what it felt like.)
Maybe this comm needs more people in it, too. It doesn't seem to have very many right now.]

Date: 2011-02-12 11:12 am (UTC)One of the things I've disliked most about challenge communities is irregularity. I like to be able to expect a challenge on a certain day, and then voting on a certain day, and results following in an orderly way. In the past I have occasionally extended a one-week challenge for another week in the hope of getting fresh entries, but I don't fancy regularly begging for entries—really, it's just a sign that either there was something wrong with the particular challenge (and yes, sometimes the source pics I choose don't have the potential I thought they did), or there is a lack of interest in the community. As entries have been very sparse for the last several challenges, I'm thinking it's the latter.
I suppose one option could have been to make everything fortnightly instead of weekly—I don't know if that would have given people more time to enter, or more time to forget to enter!
I'd be perfectly happy to keep running

Date: 2011-02-12 12:28 pm (UTC)But I understand that you get tired of trying to keep the comm running if nobody participates.
But maybe promoting at other comms or icontest_promo on LJ could peak peoples interest.
Other than that I really don't know what to do.

Date: 2011-03-14 02:50 am (UTC)Maybe not so often? I really felt overwhelmed sometimes with how short a period of time there was between challenges.
